Texting is a wonderful thing. It saves me a lot of time and energy without as many disruptions as a phone call would. I would most definitely say that I am addicted to texting, although I am not near as bad as I used to be. I’m constantly on my phone, texting away. I do, however, know when it is time to put away my cell phone and pay attention to what I’m doing, like when driving, or talking to someone, or at a job interview. I believe that texting is yet another major convenience in today’s fast paced society. I avoid phone calls completely, unless it’s a need-to-know-now situation.

I do, however, believe that texting is sometimes relied on far too much and has too much of a hold on today’s society, especially those who are younger. Many accidents have occurred due to people being too absorbed in their text messages to pay attention to what is going on around them. Much of these could be avoided by simply putting the phone down and paying attention to their surroundings. Texting is without a doubt one of the greatest technologies in my life, but, like with all things, there is a time and place.
